YEREVAN. – Armenia should try to attract a flow of tourists from Israel, which will be comparable to the index of Georgia.
Honorary Consul of Israel in Armenia, Achot Chakhmouradian, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am on Saturday, at the meeting between Armenian and Israeli tour operators organized by the State Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia.
Up to 100,000 tourists from Israel visit Georgia each year, 20 flights being carried out per week. Not Georgian Jews but Israelis in general prevail among them.
Much less—4,000-5,000—Israeli tourists arrive in Armenia, having no link to the country. “This is caused by the curiosity of the Israeli tourists. New destinations are always of interest to them. And we have a lot to offer. The direct flight between Tel Aviv and Yerevan will only enhance these ties,” he noted.
There is actually no kosher food in restaurants and shops of Armenia, which is desirable but not mandatory for tourists. Besides, not all Israeli nationals eat kosher food, he added. But it can be said with confidence that if there is a demand, the supply will emerge,” Chakhmouradian said.
