ArmInfo.In the first half of 2017, 6069 emergency situations were registered in Armenia, as a result of which 4866 people were injured – 149 of them died. This was stated by the head of the National Center for Crisis Management of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia Hovhannes Khangeldyan on July 24 at a press conference.
According to him, compared to the same period of 2016, the number of emergencies in Armenia increased by 867 or 16.7%. 3534 emergency cases were man-caused, in which 110 people were killed, 2,261 people were injured. 2357 emergencies were of a socio-biological nature, as a result of which 2,601 people were injured – 37 of them were killed.
"The prevailing majority of emergency cases are road accidents, fires and poisonings – 91%," Khangeldyan said. In particular, 2 people were killed and 26 were injured in a fire (1,877 cases), 101 people died from an accident and 2,216 (1499 cases, 109 more than last year's figure) were injured, the total number of poisonings was 181, in which 30 people died, suffered 2598.
During the reporting period, the number of suicides also increased - 89 cases were registered, having increased by 5 compared to the same period of the previous year. The prevailing majority of suicides - 56, occurred in apartments and cottages, 12 – from multi-storey buildings, 5 – fromBridges. The number of suicides in public places was 3 suicides, in the open places there were 2 suicides, in other places – 11.
