Historic Armenian houses in Turkey turn into hotels

Historic Armenian houses of Gaziantep (Ayntap) turned into hotels.

The Turkish news website Haber writes that Armenian houses with old history, which have storms that are warm in the winter and cold in summer, are of great interest to tourists visiting the city today.

According to the source, these houses are 200-300 years old. Director of one of the guest houses Zeynel Özkarman said that these houses, which have historical monuments, are left from the Armenians. There is even an Armenian inscription on one of the houses. Özkarman noted that there is a great demand for the guesthouse and  there is always no free room at the end of the week.

Guests, who have a double room overnight, including a lunch, pay 150-200 lira (about 20000 AMD).

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
