Borussia Dortmund enter talks with Manchester United for Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Borussia Dortmund have been heavily linked with a move for Henrikh Mkhitaryan over the course of the transfer window.

The reports in Germany suggested that Borussia Dortmund have entered talks with Manchester United for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Armenia international was signed by Manchester United in July 2016 from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of 42 million euros. The 28-year-old has a contract until 2020 with the club.

Since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund, Mkhitaryan has scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in 62 games for Manchester United, including two goals and six assists in 21 games in all competitions this season.

His record for Armenia is also impressive. Mkhitaryan has scored 25 goals in 70 matches for Armenia at senior level.

The Manchester United manager does not see him in his plans and would be open to letting him leave.

Peter Stoger is looking to shore up his midfield options and Mkhitaryan happens to be a target.

The Borussia Dortmund manager wants to continue to strengthening his squad so they’re able to compete both domestically and in the Europa League in the second part of the season.

According to the report, Borussia Dortmund have intensified plans this week to re-sign Mkhitaryan from Manchester United. BVB management are serious about bringing the Armenian back to the Bundesliga and have stepped up negotiations. The Armenia international has made it clear via intermediaries that he would be happy to return to his old club. There are two major obstacles for Borussia Dortmund to overcome, Manchester United’s asking price and the midfielder’s personal demands (in the region of 12.5 million euros per year).

Signing the 28-year-old in January would be a masterstroke from Peter Stoger.

A move to Borussia Dortmund is exactly what Henrikh Mkhitaryan needs to reignite his career, and we hope he is able to do just that.
