The Modern Art Museum of Yerevan, Armenia, hosted a group exhibition of non-traditional paintings from 7 to 14 June.
The exhibition titled “Before Expo 2018” brought together artists not only from Armenia, but also from the United States, Russia and other countries.
One of the participants of the exhibition was Armenian artist Lilit Aleksanyan, who took part in such an event for the first time.
Lilit got back into painting nearly one year ago after a long pause, starting to paint on canvas. Her only work featured at the exhibition was among her first canvas paintings created this year.
This seems to be a new experience for the artist to rediscover her perception of colors and their match and display them ‘courageously’, leaving the viewers to judge her works.
The painting is not titled, as the majority of her works. Lilit says she hardly gives them titles in an attempt to “let the viewers freely interpret her paintings”.
Artists will have another opportunity to present their works at the Yerevan Art Expo 2018 scheduled to take place on 17 June, from 1pm to 4pm, at the abandoned space of Eraz factory, supported by architect Ara Karapetyan.
The author of the exhibition and expo is American-Armenian painter Narine Isajanyan. It is organized by U.S.-based Art's Treasures NGO and sponsored by Alan Derian Production.
