The first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan has refused lawyer’s service during the questioning at the Special Investigation Service on Thursday, the former president’s press office reported. Earlier Ter-Petrosyan was questioned at SIS as a witness over the criminal case investigating the circumstances behind the March 1-2, 2008 post-election crackdown in Yerevan.

Ter-Petrosyan’s press office said the public will be updated about further interrogations of the former president.

To remind, second President Robert Kocharyan and former CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov were charged over breaching the constitutional order of Armenia in the scope of the same criminal case. Khachaturov was released on bail, while Robert Kocharyan remains in pre-trial detention.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
