Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan is paying his first official visit to Georgia.
Meeting with his Georgian counterpart, Foreign Minister David Zalkaliania earlier today, Mnatsakanyan welcomed recent reciprocal visits between officials of the two countries.
Welcoming his Armenian counterpart, Minister Zalkaliani said this visit underscores the importance of bilateral relations between Georgia and Armenia and their “historic, friendly ties”.
During the meeting, Minister Zalkaliani stressed importance of economic cooperation between Georgia and Armenia and Armenia's leading position among Georgia’s trade partners.
He also underscored that the number of Armenian visitors is increasing in Georgia, which contributes to deepening ties between the two nations.
During the visit to Tbilisi Minister Mnatsakanyan visited Armenian church as well as laid wreath at the Heroes Square.
Later today he met with Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze as well.
Zohrab Mnatsakanyan will also meet with Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze.
He will leave Georgia tomorrow.
