YEREVAN, September 12. /ARКА/. The Armenian government decided today to simplify the import of medicines. Health Minister Arsen Torosyan said the decision was made as a follow-up to a series of meetings Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had with importers of medicines.
The minister said one of the changes reduces the shelf life of imported medicines from one year to six months thus enabling purchase of medicines at lower prices.
Besides, according to him, the government’s decision provides also for the possibility of imports with shorter terms, but only for public procurement or as part of humanitarian or charitable programs.
The minister said that the decision also regulates the certification and import of dietary supplements and removes the requirement for certification of dual-use products.
“Today, if the products are not imported for medical purposes, for example, gypsum, which is used for construction and medical purposes, companies have to spend several days for its certification. The changes will eliminate this requirement as well,” Torosyan said.
According to him, a number of procedures have also been facilitated, including the insert and the process of importing food additives. –0–
