Armenia saw an increase in tobacco production in the first eight months of 2019, the latest official statistics show.
The country produced a total of 19 million 793.8 thousand units of cigarettes from January to August, an increase of 11.1% from the same months of 2018, when the output stood at 17 million 818 thousand units, the Statistical Committee of Armenia revealed.
As a result of the growth, the cigarette production share in Armenia’s process industry made up 14.2% in the reporting period.
According to statistics, more than 50% of Armenian men and almost 4% of women above 16 years of age are smokers.
