The Investigative Committee of Armenia has disseminated a clarification stating that there is no criminal case instituted in regard to Minister of Defense of Armenia Davit Tonoyan.
The clarification particularly states the following:
“In response to the information regarding the case of Tsolak Khachatryan presented by the mass media, taking into consideration the needless speculations regarding the mentioned case, we would like to inform that there is no criminal case regarding Minister of Defense of Armenia Davit Tonoyan.
As for the press releases regarding the criminal case instituted on the basis of the report filed by citizen of Armenia Tsolak Khachatryan, we would like to inform that on June 15, 2020, the fourth garrison investigation division of the General Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia instituted a criminal case with regard to failure to enforce a judicial act intentionally, and Tsolak Khachatryan was declared as an injured party and testified.
Preliminary investigation of the criminal case continues.
We call on mass media to refrain from disseminating misinformation and presenting press releases aimed at misleading readers.”
Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Armenia had reported that a criminal case has been instituted on the basis of the report filed by reserve officer Tsolak Khachatryan against Minister of Defense of Armenia Davit Tonoyan and other officials.
