YEREVAN. – In June, the sappers of the fifth group carrying out Armenia’s humanitarian mission in Syria have demined an area of 2,450 square meters, during which three landmines as well as homemade explosives were found. This was reported by the Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise of Armenia.
Thus, a total of 185,209 square meters have been demined since the first day of the mission, and 142,000 square meters of which were handed over to the Syrian authorities.
Under the conditions of coronavirus-related restrictions, the doctors from the fifth group provided medical assistance to 646 locals in June. Thus, from February 2019 until today, Armenia’s humanitarian mission to Syria has provided medical assistance to a total of 13,772 patients.
