Minister of Environment of Armenia Romanos Petrosyan today posted the following on his Facebook page:
“Ten million dollars will be geared towards the restoration of forests and will help create hundreds of new jobs.
The importance of international cooperation is one of the primary directions of the Ministry of Environment. We attach importance to gearing global funds towards the implementation of various environmental programs.
I am pleased to announce that on August 19, the Green Climate Fund approved the application that Armenia had filed in 2019, and as a result, the Fund will grant $10,000,000 to Armenia for forest resilience, enhancement of adaptation and rural green growth via mitigation.
The project will help solve not only the environmental issue of vital importance, but will also solve a social issue by helping create hundreds of jobs in rural communities.
The project will be implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Environmental Project Implementation Unit at the Ministry of Environment.”
