Summing up his visit to Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) during an interview with TV 5, former director of the National Security Service of Armenia, Director of the Homeland Development Fund Artur Vanetsyan said the main topic of the meetings was the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“This was Homeland Party’s first working visit to Artsakh. We held many meetings and discussions with all the political parties represented in parliament, as well as meetings with the leadership of the Union of Freedom Fighters and His Holiness Pargev. The main topic of the meetings was the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We shared our political party’s stance, and it’s safe to say that our party and the representatives of Artsakh’s political parties share the same position, that is, Artsakh must never be a part of Azerbaijan, the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination is inviolable, and there is no alternative to the international recognition of Artsakh’s independence,” he said.
When told that he used to talk about a plan for resettlement in the Araks Valley and how realistic this plan is now, Vanetsyan said the following: “The plan is current now more than ever. Due to the wrong and incompetent negotiations of the incumbent Armenian authorities, or due to the absence of negotiations, Azerbaijan has introduced a false term, that is, the Azerbaijani community of Karabakh, and from this perspective, this plan is more than current. Our political party is planning on setting up a task force and introducing the plan for resettlement in Artsakh. I consider this a pan-Armenian issue since the people who will live in those territories will become the major tool for ensuring security in the liberated territories of Artsakh,” Vanetsyan said.
