According to Pastinfo’s sources, today at 6:30 p.m. Judge Marine Melkonyan of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction was supposed to consider the subsequent motion of an investigator to arrest former Ambassador of Armenia to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan, but the investigative body surprisingly withdrew the motion two hours before the court hearing.
According to the source of the legal system, this is due to the fact that, under several criminal cases, Judge Marine Melkonyan has been objective and independent, denying the motions of investigative bodies for arresting various persons based on the fact that the motions were groundless.
“Taking into consideration the fact that courts had already denied the motions to arrest Minasyan twice in the past, the investigative body decided to not take a risk for the third time and has withdrawn the motion regarding Minasyan’s arrest. Alongside that, the investigative body has decided to submit a new motion in the course of the next two weeks with the hope that it will be inscribed to a more reliable and dependent judge who will ensure Minasyan’s arrest,” the source of the website reported.
