YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: Work to maintain restrictions without extending the [coronavirus-related] state of emergency [in the country] is nearing completion.
Lusine Martirosyan, head of the media and public relations department of the RA Ministry of Justice, told Zhoghovurd daily that the work on developing the [respective] bills was completed and sent to the Prime Minister's Office.
It is known that for about a month now, the Ministry of Health, together with the Ministry of Justice, has been working on a legislative initiative so that it will be possible not to extend the state of emergency once again on September 11, but to maintain the restrictions.
It should be reminded that the term of the legal state of emergency has been extended [in Armenia] until September 11, therefore, by that day, either those drafts must be adopted or the term of the state of emergency must be extended. However, on August 12, during the discussion in the parliament, RA commandant [of the emergency situation and deputy PM] Tigran Avinyan had informed that the state of emergency was being extended for the last time; that is, the new law must be adopted by September [11].
