Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at the NA today that the parliamentary majority made a decision to hold snap elections by proportional representation.
“The electoral system of the Electoral legislation was not part of reached arrangements, but during all discussions I asked our colleagues, including parliamentary ones, about their opinion on the electoral system whether they prefer the rating system act or not,” he said.
He said it seems that Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia factions left the issue at the discretion of the parliamentary majority.
“It means, they have no problem whether the rating system be or not,” the PM said, adding that the parliamentary majority conducted discussions with representatives of non-parliamentary forces and civil society and decided to go to elections by proportional representation.
