MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The detection of fragments of Russia's Iskander missiles in Karabakh is being discussed by the military agencies, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday soon after Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said he had discussed the issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Military agencies are engaged in intensive dialogue, they discuss all the relevant issues," Peskov told reporters when asked if the Kremlin has received the letter and if the presidents have really touched upon this issue.

In April, Azerbaijan announced that fragments of the Iskander missiles, allegedly used by Armenia during the escalation in Karabakh in the autumn of 2020, were found in Shusha during a mine clearance operation. Earlier on Tuesday, Aliyev recalled discussing the matter with Putin in their recent phone conversation and also said that Baku had sent an official letter to Moscow to seek clarification.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
