Infiltration of Azerbaijani armed forces into Armenia’s sovereign territory, attacks on Armenian defense position escalated the situation: Armenia MFA

We welcome the approaches of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship regarding the resumption of the peace process, presented in their joint statement issued on July 29, Armenia's MFA said in a statement.

"In the joint statements of December 3, 2020 and April 13, 2021, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the High Representative of the Co-Chair countries clearly outlined the priority issues of the peace process, which can create a basis for negotiations.

The statement of the Co-Chairs once again demonstrates that the key to regional peace and security is the comprehensive and lasting settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The infiltration of the Azerbaijani armed forces into the sovereign territory of Armenia since May 12, and the attacks on the Armenian defense positions in recent days have escalated the situation. Armenia has always acted in the spirit of de-escalation by making concrete proposals to this end, particularly, to withdraw military units to the initial positions as of May 11.

We are confident that the specified assessment of Azerbaijan's actions will help to overcome the current tense situation."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
