Pope Leads A Prayer For Peace At The Colosseum

Archbishop of Constantinople Bartholomew I, Pope Francis and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, arrive at Rome's Colosseum for an International Meeting for Peace with leaders of various religions and confessions on in Rome, Italy. The St. Egidio Community held a two-day peace meeting in Rome which was attended by numerous faith leaders from across the globe. The 35th International Meeting for Peace concluded on Thursday evening with a prayer for peace at the Colosseum, which was attended by Pope Francis. Held under the theme, "Peoples as Brothers, Future Earth" The event saw the participation of religious leaders from Christianity, Islam, Hebraism, Buddhism, Tenrikyo, Hinduism, and Sikhism. Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again.
