ArmInfo. The ongoing opposition rallies are logistical rather than political problems. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan voiced a similar assessment during the government hour in the Parliament.
<Because we are talking about the level of traffic congestion in the city. The public significance of what is happening is somewhat inferior to the collapse of the Tsitsernakaberd highway. A synergy has formed here, and we see that the level of traffic congestion, unfortunately, has increased>, he said.
Pashinyan stressed that for more than a month the opposition had the opportunity to express its voice to the public using all the political methods and actions carried out. He noted that, as a rule, the purpose of such events is to involve the public in the processes and, as a result, form a political demand.
<Obviously, that didn't happen. And these processes are not only directed against the government, but also against the general public," he said. In this context, Pashinyan noted that the political significance of the opposition movement has been exhausted. "Their goal is to create maximum inconvenience for citizens in order to avenge the results of the parliamentary elections in 2021, for the fact that society did not join the opposition," he said.
It should be noted that on April 17, the head of the "I have the Honor" opposition parliamentary faction Artur Vanetsyan launched an indefinite rally on Freedom Square in Yerevan in defense of Nagorno- Karabakh and demanding the resignation of the current Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and his team. He called on everyone to join the protests. The initiative was supported by the "I have the honor" and "Armenia"opposition factions, as well as the "5165" party. Protest movements began on 25 April. And since May 1, a tent camp of opposition forces has been set up on France Square, demanding the resignation of Pashinyan and his team. Since May 1, activists of the movement spend the night on the street, and during the day they organize protest actions, blocking metropolitan and regional roads. –
