The National Unity Party (AMK) issued a statement affirming Artashes
Geghamyan’s suggestion to involve Robert Kocharian and Serge Sargsyan
in the opposition’s meetings. The AMK suggests enlarging the realm of
the meetings and involving pro-governmental and oppositional leaders.
"We voice hope that all presidential candidates will make a joint
statement at the pre-election period thus displaying a united stance
in view of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict regulation. The strengthening
of the Armenian statehood must be a priority for all of us," the AMK
statement runs.
Taking into consideration the interest of foreign countries and
international structures concerned over South Caucasus we can assume
that it will result in dangerous developments. We don’t exclude that
they can take every possible measure to exert pressure on candidates
for presidency."
The AMK calls on all forces concerned over Armenia’s fortune to hold
frequent meetings.
"The AMK condemns any step aimed at splitting and the society at this
fatal moment."
