PRESIDENT CONCERNED WITH "AFRICAN PLAGUE"

Armenian President Robert Kocharyan met with Agriculture Minister
Davit Lokyan today. The president raised a priority concern with the
situation of pig plague in the republic and ways of combat against
the disease. The minister assured everything is being done to prevent
its spread.
Speaking about epidemic situation in the country, Gevorg Tovmasyan,
veterinary inspection deputy head, told Panorama.am that no new spots
of "African plague" have been detected.
Speaking about the sick pigs in Yerevan that have been killed,
Tovmasyan confirmed that the pigs in Yerevan were sick with "African
plague."
"Preventive measures are taken to stop further spread of the
infection," Tovmasyan said.
