HUMAN RIGHTS OMBUDSMAN TO VISIT LORY

Press Secretary of Human Rights Ombudsman Grigor Grigoryants said
Ombudsman Armen Harutunyan may go to the region of Lory "if nothing
extraordinary happens."
He said this visit has been scheduled and planned.
Just to recall, a working group assigned by the Armenian human rights
ombudsman was in Lory several days ago. The visit was conditioned by
concerns from legal rights organizations according to which people are
called to the policy and tortured after the murder of Lory regional
prosecutor.
The working group met with several legal rights organizations as
well as Vanadzor deputy division head of Lory regional police,
A. Aivazyan. The group has made investigations and reported "no
violations of judicial norms when they were in the police."
