"Despite of what side of barricades we have been, we have not hidden
those issues that unify and divide us," Vazgen Manukyan, chairman
of National People’s Union (AJM), said yesterday at the 11th Supreme
Assembly of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaksutiun).
Speaking about Artsakh victories, he mentioned that Karabakh was
liberated thanks to the fact that every Armenian, despite of where
he lived, felt that this country is his own. In his words, 90 percent
of people do not feel so now.
Referring to Dashnaksutiun’s activities, Manukyan shared his
belief that Dashnaksutiun has had both elements of romanticism
and pragmatism. "When Dashnaksutiun went after romanticism, it
was destructive for our nation. Now I have a fear that by losing
romanticism Dashnaksutiun may go into pragmatism and turn into cynics,"
Manukyan said. He appealed Dashnaksutiun to keep romanticism in itself
and not become an ordinary party.
