UN agriculture official, Armenian minister discuss expanding ties

Yerevan, 3 September: Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO) Jacques Diouf and Armenian Agriculture Minister
David Lokyan attended a ceremony of opening a FAO office in Yerevan
today.

During Diouf’s one-day visit to Armenia, an agreement was reached
on developing cooperation both at a bilateral and regional level. An
honorary doctorate of the Armenian Agriculture Academy was conferred
on Jacques Diouf.

Since the beginning of 2004, the FAO has implemented six programmes
in Armenia worth a total of over 1.8m dollars.
