Yerevan, 10 September: Public TV of Armenia will start broadcasting
in Vanadzor [town in the north] in digital format in 2008.
Speaking at a news conference in Yerevan today, Executive Director
of Public TV Armen Arzumanyan stated that the choice of Vanadzor is
conditioned particularly by technical considerations. Public TV will
shift to digital broadcasting in the whole territory of Armenia stage
by stage, he said.
Armen Arzumanyan noted that in the new TV season Public TV of Armenia
"sets for itself many new tasks".
"In particular, we plan to replace Latin American soap operas with our
own similar production," he noted. Moreover, Armen Arzumanyan stated,
"we also plan to set up a number of new youth, history and music
TV programmes".
"So, in the new ‘We and our mountains’ project, famous pop singers
will be presented to the audience in an unusual role and will be
performing exclusively folk songs," Armen Arzumanyan stated.
The executive director of Public TV said that this year the company
purchased the right to show over 1,500 foreign movies.
