Iran-Armenia gas pipeline cost over $28 million
Armenia will begin imports of natural gas from Iran in 2009 to meet
its energy needs, Armenia’s Energy Minister, Armen Movsisyan, says.

The minister told reporters that beginning in 2009, Iran will export
1.1 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to Armenia every year.

By 2019, Iran’s annual gas exports to Armenia will increase to 2.3 bcm,
he added.

A 144-km gas pipeline linking Armenia to Iran was inaugurated by the
presidents of the two countries early this year.

Iran is expected to supply all of Armenia’s gas needs within the next
two years. The total outlay for the pipeline was about $28.2 million.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
