The Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanyan is leaving for New York
soon for the UN General Assembly where he will have a meeting with the
Turkish foreign minister. In a news briefing on September 27 Vardan
Oskanyan told reporters the meeting with his Turkish counterpart is
a joint initiative.

"It has always been so with Turkey, there has always been mutual
interest. We cannot say who definitely initiated. The main issue
during the meeting is going to be if there was any change in the
Turkish policy on Armenia after Turkey has a new government," Vardan
Oskanyan said. He emphasized that the stance of Armenia has not
changed – relations without preconditions. "Now it is Turkey’s turn
to tell if there is any change in their policy," Vardan Oskanyan says.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
