"Azerbaijan considers that cooperation is necessary to ensure peace,
security and stability in the region, Khazar Ibrahim, Azerbaijani
Foreign Ministry’s spokesman said commenting on Iranian President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s initiative on establishing of economic
cooperation organization of Caspian states, APA reports.
"The initiatives on security may be put force in the region. If Iran
has such proposals it has to put them on the table. If there is no
cooperation we can not speak about stability and peace in the region
.Cooperation should covered all spheres and there should be confidence
among sides.
The region does not only consist of Caspian states , there are Black
Sea region states and Armenia that is outside of these two regions,
as well as Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iraq and their problems. These
problems influence on the stability and peace in the region. The states
should co-operate with one another to solve the problems," he said.
Armenian’s occupation of Azerbaijani territories is the main problem
in the region.
"Unfortunately, it is the only and main problem in the region. The
solution of other problems may have some contribution to the security
and stability of the region. But end of Armenian occupation and the
establishment of normal relations may provide large support for the
region. The regional states should take this into consideration and
urge Armenia to refrain from definite messages and wrong policy./APA/
