Defence Ministry controlled, promotes patriotic values
[Presenter] The Russian Defence Ministry will shortly start upgrading
the infrastructure of the 102nd military base, which is located in the
Armenian city of Guymri – journalists and the military heard this news
today from [Russian] Defence Minister Anatoliy Serdyukov. He visited
the base itself, where he looked at its servicemen’s living conditions.
[Serdyukov] I wanted to find out for myself how our servicemen
are living here, what problems they face – above all housing and
organizational ones. I believe that following the visit, we’ll draw
certain conclusion and take some measures to improve the state of the
base itself, the barracks, and also the kindergarten, which has only
just (? opened).
[Presenter] In the afternoon, the defence minister had meetings with
the Armenian leadership and held talks with his Armenian opposite
number. The two sides decided that they were pleased with the quality
of military cooperation, and approved plans for the future too. In
particular, the Rubezh-2008 command-post exercise will be held next
summer in Russia and in Armenia.
