YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 5, NOYAN TAPAN. 208 protocols on unauthorized
constructions were made up in June-October of current year in Yerevan,
which exceeds the index of the previous year’s same period 2.1-fold. As
Kamo Areyan, the Deputy Mayor of Yerevan, said at the November 5
press conference, 108 constructions were pulled down, 198 cases of
administrative examinations were filed, 12m drams (nearly 36.4 thousand
USD) was transferred to the RA state budget from the fines imposed.

At the same time, the Deputy Mayor said that though cases of illegal
land seizure have reduced in Yerevan, cases of doing construction
work on already existing unauthorized constructions have grown
instead. According to him, in order to fight them, the Mayor’s
Office holds daily checkings in different communities with the
proper bodies. Seven protocols have been made up on their basis,
one of which regarded an attempt to seize land.

K. Areyan once more said that attached constructions implemented
in Yerevan’s tenement houses are subject to legalization by the
RA government’s decision. Inhabitants can apply to territorial
bodies of the State Committee of Land Survey, then legalize their
attached constructions by making the respective payments after doing
measurement.

K. Areyan also said that by Yerevan Mayor Yervand Zakharian’s decision,
certificates of property ownership have been already given to 151
families in the 33rd district of Yerevan.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
