INFORMATION BLOCKADE IN GEORGIA

President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili imposed the 15-day emergency
in the country. All TV Channels in Georgia are banned to broadcast
the latest news in the result of the state emergency. Only state
television can broadcast news. It should be reminded that the state
of emergency was initially announced in Tbilisi for 48 hours, but
that was later extended to the whole country for 15 days.

"The President declared the state of emergency initially in Tbilisi
only for 48 hours. According to the Constitution the decision should
be ratified by the parliament. The temporary restrictions refer only
to the gatherings and assemblies, and the mass media is forbidden to
call for violation, intolerance and overthrow of the authorities",
said Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli

Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli said a coup attempt had been made in
the country.
