YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 9, NOYAN TAPAN. The probability of a "coloured"
revolution or a revolution of "roses" is rather low in Armenia,
since the 60% of the population of the country is able to meet
their social demands. This statement was made by Aharon Adibekian,
the Head of the "Sociometer" sociological center, at the November
9 press conference. In his words, an acute revolutionary situation
will not arise in the interpolitical field of Armenia for another two
reasons. The first reason is that the young being the impellent power
of revolution will never go against the elder generation at the head
of the state power. The second one, according to Aharon Adibekian,
is that no result can be achieved by terrorism, as the October 27,
1999 events showed.
In the conviction of political scientist Sergey Minasian, the fact
that the protesting mass of the population of Georgia is currently
striving for solving issues through mass meetings, speaks about
the fact that the political system of that country is still in an
establishment phase.
According to him, Georgia has turned into a clash zone between the
West and Russia, and has become vulnerable, which cannot be said
about Armenia.
