NEW HEAD OF CE COMMITTEE OF MINISTERS TO VISIT NAGORNO-KARABAKH

Minister Jan Kubish intends to pay a visit to Nagorno-Karabakh,
the territory of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, he reported on
12 November.

"First I have to get properly familiar with the situation (in the
conflict territories in the CE countries – editor). Therefore, I plan
to visit the region in near future," Kubish said at a press conference
in Strasburg.

On 12 November, Serbia passed chairmanship in the Council of Europe’s
Committee of Ministers to Slovakia. Kubish being the Foreign Minister
of the country will be heading the Committee next year.

Along with the OSCE Minsk Group, the UN and the Council of Europe are
also involved in peaceful settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,
Kubish said. "I have to respect the efforts of other organizations
also treating the issue," he said. The Minister did not specify the
date of the visit to be paid.
