A few days ago the Armenian government bought an Airbus A319
produced in 1998 to replace TU 134 which no longer complies with the
requirements for modern aircraft, maintenance and fuel is costly. The
bus will be used for the foreign visits of the head of state mainly,
as well as delegations led by other high-ranking officials.
Airbus A319 was bought on one of the eastern markets. The value of
the deal was 45 million U.S. dollars 15 million of which was paid by
anonymous Armenian benefactors. The rest of the sum was paid through
a loan to be repaid in 10 years.
