"I am going to ask Samvel Babayan who stated in the conference, told
both sides to halt, and I don’t know if I will succeed or not, but at
least it is not desirable to go back and remember things which contain
national secrets," the leader of the Ramkavar Party Harutiun Arakelyan
stated in a news conference at the Hayatsk Press Club on December 3.
He said this with regard to Samvel Babayan’s response to Levon
Ter-Petrosyan’s statement that Serge Sargsyan had been expulsed from
Karabakh in the early 1990s by Samvel Babayan. Babayan said in the
recent conference of the his party which decided to unite with the
Ramkavar Party that he is going to release facts and names of the
people who liberated Karabakh and who hindered its liberation.
In this connection, Harutiun Arakelyan says he is going to ask
Babayan not to release those facts. The leader of the Ramkavar
Party of Armenia says they will not benefit anyone, including Levon
Ter-Petrosyan. He asks Ter-Petrosyan’s team to give up efforts to turn
Samvel Babayan a traitor. Harutiun Arakelyan also gives the example
of Andranik and other heroes saying that first they were turned idols
then denigrated. Samvel Babayan is a normal person like all of us,
Harutiun Arakelyan says.
