Approximately 93 percent of Armenian labor migrants headed for Russia
between 2005 and 2007, according to a recently published study,
the news agency Regnum reports.
The US was the second most popular destination for migrant workers,
attracting 4-5 percent of the total while Ukraine ranked third with
3-4 percent.
The study also revealed that some 60-80 000 Armenians become labor
migrants annually and indicated they are increasingly coming from
rural areas.
Labor migrants from Armenia are increasingly less likely to be
women: in 2006 women accounted for 14 percent of labor migrants,
which decreased to 6.5 percent in 2007 according to the recent survey.
