NO CANDIDATE WILL BE REFUSED

Thanks to the amendments to the Armenian election legislation, there
is no need to submit a fixed number of signatures to register the
presidential candidate, as well as to make some other formal steps,
stated the secretary of the Central Electoral Commission Abram
Bakhchagulyan on December 7, ARKA reports. He said the amendments to
the legislation turn the registration of candidates an automatic
action, therefore all the nine candidates are expected to be
registered.

Abram Bakhchagulyan said the registration of the candidates which
opens on December 31 and will last till January 20 will probably
start after Christmas. The secretary of the CEC said the election
process will also take place in accordance with the new rule. Namely,
the results of the count of votes will be available online on the
site of the CEC. `Besides, there will be a special room for reporters
at the CEC, where computers and the Internet will be available,’
Abram Bakhchagulyan says.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
