YEREVAN, DECEMBER 6, NOYAN TAPAN. The name of the candidate to be
supported by the Bargavach Hayastan (Prosperous Armenia) party in
the forthcoming presidential elections will be officially published
at the party’s December 20 congress. However, it is obvious that the
party will support the candidature of RA Prime Minister, RPA Chairman
Serge Sargsian. Answering journalists’ questions, BH Chairman Gagik
Tsarukian stated on December 6 that they have signed a coalition
memorandum with RPA and "he unequivocally will support it."

Touching upon the nomination of the candidature of first RA President
Levon Ter-Petrosian, G. Tsarukian said that the latter must be sure of
"his programs, people, therefore, he has taken that step."

In connection with the checkings held in the enterprises of independent
deputy Khachatur Sukiasian, G. Tsarukian said that once a year and
even at his request checkings are held in all enterprises belonging
to him. He also said that the Tax Service should be mainly stricter to
big enterprises. As regards K. Sukiasian’s supporting L. Ter-Petrosian,
according to G. Tsarukian, every one acts freely, in correspondence
with his ideas, and no one has the right to blame him. According to
the BH Chairman, K. Sukiasian is his friend, and he does not renounce
that, but their "intentions, plans are different" today.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
