IFFK: ‘Lark Farm’ gets applause

Thiruvananthapuram (PTI): ‘The Lark Farm,’ a feature based on the
sufferings of Armenian people at the hands of the Turks in the early
1900s, was the pick of the films screened at the 12th International
Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) here on Saturday.

The film, scripted and directed jointly by Paolo Tavian and Vittorio
Taviani, narrated how the young Turks had wanted to strengthen their
homeland and also how the Armenians living in the Ottoman empire were
subjected to government persecution.

Other films shown at the festival on Saturday included ‘Me Myself’
(Pongpat Wachirabunjong/Thailand), ‘King of San Gregario’ (Alfonso
Gaziula/Chile) and ‘Art of Crying’ (Peter Schnonau/Denmark).

Two films of Spanish film-maker Pedro Almodovar, ‘Bad Education’, and
‘Kika’ and ‘Snowdrop Festival’ by Czech director Jiri Menzel were
also screened at the retrospective section.

The opening film of the IFFI at Goa, ‘Four Months, three weeks and
two days’, by the young Cristian Mungiu from Romania was also
screened on Saturday.

‘The Father’ (Russia) by Ivan Solovov also captured the attention of
the audience.
