CEC DENIES REGISTRATION OF NGO FOR ELECTION MONITORING

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS: Armenia’s Central Election Commission
(CEC) has declined today an application of a non-governmental
organization called the National Center for Applied Economy which
sought permission to monitor the February 19 presidential election.
The CEC explained the denial by saying the organization’s statutes
do not envisage monitoring of elections.
Citing a similar reason the CEC denied registration of another NGO
called Supreme Council-Deputies Club.
The CEC has registered so far 4 NGOs allowing them to monitor the
forthcoming vote.
