NKR AND AZERBAIJAN EXCHANGE PRISONERS

As an expression of good will the authorities of the Nagorno Karabakh
Republic conveyed the 29-year-old resident of Mir-Bashir region of
Azerbaijan Anar Aliyev to the Azeri side.
Mediamax was told from the NKR State Commission on Prisoners of War
and Missing Persons that the transfer of the Azeri citizen took place
at 14:35 in the direction of Aghdam of the contact line between the
Armed Forces of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan, near the village
of Bash-Karvend with the assistance of the representative of the
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Anar Aliyev had been detained by the NKR Defense Army on August 2,
2007 when crossing to the Karabakhi side in the direction of Martakert.
Representatives of the ICRC Stepanakert Office were allowed to visit
Anar Aliyev without any obstacle. During the stay in Karabakh Aliyev
maintained written communication with his relatives in Azerbaijan.
Simultaneously, the Azeri side has released Valeri Suleymanyan,
a resident of Marttuni city, who had been captivated in April, 2007.
