If Azerbaijan does not pose new obstacles, the fact-finding mission
of the Council of Europe to investigate the state of monuments will
arrive in the region at the beginning of the year. RA Foreign Minister
Vartan Oskanain told today’s press conference in Yerevan that the
question was at the core of the meeting with CoE Secretary General
Terry Davis in Strasbourg on December 7.
"We are interested that the mission visits Nakhijevan. We have agreed
to allow to carry out fact-finding mission in any place in Armenia,
Nagorno Karabakh has also agreed, there is absolutely no obstacle
on the part of Armenia. We have presented the list of the monuments
we would like to be observed or the photos of the places where the
khachkars and monuments have been destroyed. If Azerbaijan poses no
new obstacles, the visit will fall in the first quarter of next year,"
Vartan Oskanian said.
Let us remind that the visit of the CoE mission was delayed because
of the difficulties created by Azerbaijan.
