"If you are complaining of election frauds, you should be able to prove
that you can hold just elections, if you are speaking about corruption,
you should not be engaged in corruption. Otherwise the nation will not
trust you and blind hatred cannot result in revolution. People should
trust in future", considers Chairman of the "National Democratic Union"
Vazgen Manukyan.

The main target for his fight is the authorities’ candidate, other
opposition candidates are simply competitors, but not opponents. He
even announced that he would withdraw his candidature if a main power
was formed to put the authorities in a "heavy" situation.

But he does not see such a power today. Vazgen Manukyan complained
of some mass media for propagating intolerance. He is confirmed that
the behavior of certain oppositional newspapers has a contradictory
influence.

Propagate of the oppositional newspapers against other oppositional
candidates disappoints the society, and it will result in the inactive
behavior of the society, who will not participate in the elections.

Vazgen Manukyan reminded that during the last ten years he had been
criticizing the authorities and during his political activities he
had never parried the path adopted in 60s. Vazgen Manukyan has not
met Serge Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan for a long time and does not
find it a criminal misdeed.

Vazgen Manukyan also criticized declarations of the Head of Arabkir
Community Hovhannes Shahinyan as if the residents of Arabkir Community
had made their choice and would give their votes to Serge Sargsyan.

He noticed that voters were free and had enough brains to vote for
the candidate their wanted.

Although the society is discontent with the authorities, Vazgen
Manukyan does not see the candidate who will win during the elections.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
