COMMUNITY CENTER OF KARAKERT VILLAGE OF ARMAVIR REGION AND RECONSTRUCTED BUILDINGS OF SCHOOL OF SHENIK PUT INTO OPERATION

ARMAVIR, DECEMBER 17, NOYAN TAPAN. The solemn ceremonies of putting
into operation the community center of the Karakert village of the
Armavir region and the secondary school of the Shenik community with
its sport complex were held on December 13. The library, the dance and
sport halls, the internet club and 230-seat hall for solemn events
will operate in the community center of Karakert, the general space
of which makes 1600 square kilometers.

The school of the Shenik village is provided with educational
laboratories, computer classrooms, a 2-hall sport complex, and an
aid station, to name but a few.

As Ashot Ghahramanian, the regional governor of Armavir, mentioned in
his speech, the reconstrauction work was made within the frameworks
of the "Unification of Global Development" program, which is being
implemented by the "Children of Armenia" fund, the UN Development
program and the United States International Development Agency. In the
words of the regional governer, the community center of Karakert will
allow the population of that and adjacent villages to develop sport
and culture, and the completely reconstructed school of Shenik, which
has 150 pupils, will contribute to the development of the village.

Karo Armen, the Chairman of the Council of the "Children of Armenia"
fund, mentioned that work of approximately 5 million dollars has been
conducted in 6 villages of the Armavir region within the frameworks
of the "Model Grouping of Villages" participation program, which has
been carried out since 2004. In his words, the program will have a
continuous character: it is envisaged to include more needy villages
and cities in the program in the coming years.
