BAKU: Azeri Foreign Minister Says Karabakh Peace Plan Needs More Wor

AZERI FOREIGN MINISTER SAYS KARABAKH PEACE PLAN NEEDS MORE WORK

ANS TV, Azerbaijan
Dec 19 2007

The document presented to the conflicting sides by the OSCE Minsk
Group co-chairs in Madrid needs to be worked on, Azerbaijani Foreign
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has said. Mammadyarov said that Baku had
some reservations about the document and that it was ready to work
on them.

Mr Mammdyarov said that the principles that were presented [to the
sides] were not new. They simply contain some new nuances and words
which also need to be worked on, he said.

The minister added that the co-chairs were expected to pay another
visit [to the region] in mid-January. Statements about the course of
talks before then are just populism.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
