The executive approved today Bill on Brand Names to reduce expenditures
and time required for registering companies. Minister of trade and
economic development, Nerses Yeritsyan, told a briefing shortly after
the session that the bill envisages to conduct the registration on the
principle of one window, that is, in the registering establishment,
and the exchange of information with interested ministries – ministry
of justice and trade and economic development will be electronically.

"The state expenditures on publicizing will go down," Yeritsyan said
also saying that information on brand names will also be included
in the registration documents. The minister mentioned that in case
the bill is implemented in the set order, it is not excluded that
companies will have the chance to get registered through internet.

The minister said there are problems connected with brand names
and duplication of brand symbols. The bill defines also such
issues. "It gives certain advantages to the owner of brand symbols,"
Yeritsyan said. In accordance with the bill, if a person sees that the
commonality or duplication of its brand symbols confuse the customers,
they may protect their author’s rights in court. "We must be able to
check the name also internationally so that there will be no obstacles
for companies while entering into the country. We must postulate a
new policy," he said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
