Deficit of Balance of Payments in GDP Grows 3.7% Jan-Sep YoY 2007

DEFICIT OF CURRENT ACCOUNT OF ARMENIA’S BALANCE OF PAYMENTS IN GDP
GROWS BY 3.7% IN JANUARY-SEPTEMBER 2007 ON SAME PERIOD OF LAST YEAR

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 28, NOYAN TAPAN. In January-September 2007, the
deficit of the current account of Armenia’s balance of payments
amounted to 326.95 mln USD, growing by 249.15 mln USD as compared with
the same period of 2006. This growth was mainly due to an increase of
the negative balance of the foreign trade turnover.

According to the RA National Statistical Service, by results of
January-September 2007, the deficit of the current account made up 5.7%
of GDP – against 2% in the same period of 2006.
