ArmInfo. Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator
Joseph Biden, a longtime supporter of U.S. recognition of the Armenian
Genocide, officially announced his support yesterday for the Armenian
Genocide Resolution.

As the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) told ArmInfo,
the Committee’s Executive Director Aram Hamparian said that the
"Armenian Americans – and all those committed to forever ending the
cycle of genocide – welcome Chairman Biden’s principled support for
Congressional reaffirmation of the Armenian Genocide, and thank him for
his years of leadership in helping to put America back on the right
side of this compelling moral and foreign policy issue". To recall,
resolutions on confirmation of the Armenian Genocide were presented
to the House of Representatives and the Senate in January, 2007. The
both resolutions have one and the same serial number. On October 10,
2007, the House Foreign Affairs Committee approved the resolution with
27 votes ‘for’ and 21 ‘against’. However, the voting was not held so
far. There were no hearings in the Senate profile committee as yet.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
