AZERBAIJAN TO PASS CAPTURED SOLDIER TO ARMENIA

Azerbaijan, Baku, 24 January / Trend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / Azerbaijan
will pass a captured Armenian soldier to his country on 25 January,
the Armenian Defence Ministry said to ARKA on 24 January.

Armenian soldier Ambartsum Asatrian has been in captivity of Azerbaijan
since 4 August 2007.

The soldier will be passed to Armenia on 25 January at 1.00pm at the
both countries’ troops contact line in the Ijevan-Gazakh region.

The Azerbaijani Defence Ministry refused to confirm the information
to Trend.

Previously, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry, as well as the
Azerbaijani State Commission on POWs, Missing Persons and Hostages
had reported that Asatrian did not want to return to Armenia and
asked for an asylum in Azerbaijan.
